Spend Time Immersed in the Beauty of Nature Found in Traditional Japanese Art
Sanyo-so is nestled at the foot of Mount Genji in Izu-Nagaoka. Built as a villa for Hisaya Iwasaki, the eldest son of Yataro Iwasaki (founder of the former Mitsubishi zaibatsu conglomerate), in a magnificent Japanese garden, Sanyo-so is a dignified and elegant hot-spring inn built in the historic and prestigious Sukiya-zukuri architectural style. Surrounded by rich and verdant nature in a 3,000 tsubo (almost 10,000 m²) Japanese garden created by Jihei Ogawa, a famous Kyoto-based gardener, you will experience first-hand the seasonal beauty of flowers, birds, wind, and the moon, the motifs found in traditional art. This is a unique opportunity in an extraordinary space that only a visit to a traditional Japanese hot spring can provide. A Blissful Stay in an Imperial Villa Atmosphere.
The Mythical Peach Blossom Spring Dazzles in Every Season
The garden, which undergoes a beautiful transformation as each season passes, covers an area of 3,000 tsubo.
Visitors can view the progression of the seasons with cherry blossoms in spring, irises in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and plum blossoms in winter.
The sound of water from the pond in the center of the garden, which spreads out like the ethereal Peach Blossom Spring from traditional folklore, soothes the soul, calms the mind, and eases tired bodies. In addition, a pavilion stands on a hill from which a panoramic view of the garden can be enjoyed. You can also enjoy the view of the mountains surrounding Sanyo-so.
This is a place that enriches and delights the senses of all who visit. The fragrance of spring flowers, the cool breeze of summer, the vibrant colors of fall, and the serenity of winter. The changes of the seasons offer new and unique views of the landscape.
