Excellent cherry blossom viewing spots are not limited to the colorful rows of cherry blossom trees that line streets and riversides. Even a single tree, such as an ancient tree over 1,000 years old or a famous tree that is the subject of a legend or folktale, can attract visitors with its majestic flowers and foliage.
There is one such cherry tree in Hakone-en, adjacent to The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko. This "lone lakeside cherry blossom" serves as a symbol of spring in Hakone. Because it reaches its peak in mid-April, it provides visitors the opportunity to enjoy cherry blossom viewing slightly later than in Tokyo. The tree is about 100 years old. The Oshima cherry tree, with branches spreading out 22 meters, a trunk circumference of 5 meters, a height of 12 meters, and a circumference of 70 meters, is worth seeing for its abundant vitality!
During the night for the time period indicated below, the lone lakeside cherry tree will be illuminated and the Sakura Night BAR will be open. The view of the lone lakeside cherry tree changes dramatically from night to day. The sight of the tree's fantastical beauty, seemingly floating on the lake, is nothing short of breathtaking. We hope that our guests will enjoy this unique and truly special cherry blossom viewing opportunity, which is possible only during this season and under this tree, accompanied by a drink evoking the essence of spring.
